Hi! I’m Christopher, a.k.a. ChicagoHooker. Thanks for stopping by.
I learned to crochet from my grandmother. That led to several other hobbies that involved tying knots either by hand or with the help of a tool like a crochet hook or tapestry needle. For me crocheting is fascinating because it takes a skein of yarn and with a few twists of the hook turns that long strand into an afghan, scarf, hat, or pillow. I learned at an early age that I liked using my hands to create tangible, useful objects. I earned my BA in technical theatre with an emphasis on carpentry and props design. Both of these practices allowed me to make a living making things. I’m currently at a desk job and making things now involves doing home improvement and maintenance, such as installing an awning or a chain-link fence. I also make candles and crochet items that I sell on Etsy and at local craft shows. I’m married to a fantastic man and we have a puppy and two cats.
